OKLAHOMA CITY – An 82,000 square-foot outdoorsman’s paradise is now open for business. Hundreds of people camped outside Cabela’s in northwest Oklahoma City for a chance to take home a $500 gift card.

Face down on the concrete, sleepers, barefoot and buried in blankets, waited in line for Cabela’s grand opening extravaganza.

“I fell asleep and then tried to stand up with my legs still asleep and fell back over,” said Sean Davis.

Battle wounds and all, Davis came prepared.

“We have a little bit of everything. We’ve got sweet tarts, gummies, sunflower seeds, Mountain Dew, Mellow Yellow,” said Davis.

“Numero uno, number 1,” said Cat Mahsetky.

Mahsetky posted up for 24 hours before the opening. She was the first in line, hoping for a gift card to purchase something special for the Comanche County Fair next week.

“I’m really hoping a larger tent will bring more of my family out,” said Mahsetky.

As the sun came up, hundreds of people kept the energy high.

All the attention even captured the eye of 2014 Country Music Awards New Artist of the Year Brett Eldredge, who stopped by for the big day.

“I love anything that people are passionate about to sleep over night in the parking lot or whatever it is,” said Eldredge.

With a unique ribbon cutting ceremony, Cabela’s finally opened their doors for business.

Hundreds of eager shoppers stampeded in to claim their prized possessions, including Cat and her family tent.

“Yes! I got it, I’m so excited. This means I’ll get to do all the camping next weekend and everything I want to do. I got a lot more than I bargained for, so we’ll definitely be back,” said Mahsetky.

More giveaways will continue over the weekend.

The first 50 customers through the door Friday will receive a Cabela’s utility bag.

On Saturday, the first 50 customers will receive a Cabela’s commemorative grand opening cap.

On Sunday, the first 50 customers will receive a Cabela’s tripod stool.
