OKLAHOMA CITY – It’s a pain-relief technique that has a lot of people talking.
Chronic knee pain can be devastating for some patients who have faced multiple knee surgeries or replacements.
For Kerry Lawson, that meant a dependence on pain killers that threatened her career as a professor.
She turned to a technique called Coolief, a non-surgical, non-narcotic procedure that uses cooled radio-frequency energy to target the sensory nerves in the knee that are causing pain.
The result, doctors say, is an end to chronic pain.
Dr. John Nelson, a pain management specialist with Advanced Pain Management of Oklahoma, stopped by the studios to discuss the procedure.
