Margaritas, Models and Manicures was held Tuesday evening at Polished Nail Salon in Oklahoma City. Guests were able to meet and mingle while also enjoying manicures and pedicures. Sushi from GOGO Sushi Express and Grill, desserts from Nothing Bundt Cakes, and drinks including wine from Farfalla Wines of Yukon were also served.

Samantha Hanby and David Lu, owners of Polished Nail Salon were involved with Fashion Week last year but wanted to up their presence this year by hosting an event. With a great turnout, the salon was filled with Fashion Week models, salon regulars and lots of fashion-minded Oklahomans. A popular place for manicures and pedicures, Polished Nail Salon is known for great nail art. Hanby said they can create any design a client requests, even from photos.

While Fashion Week itself may be young in Oklahoma, the style-conscious crowd seems to be fully embracing this new addition to the Oklahoma City fashion culture. Evin DeShawn, a local stylist and creative director said he’s been looking forward to and has been involved with events leading up to this week.

DeShawn, like many others, understands that fashion goes further than the runway and magazines. It is an outward expression of who one is in a true art form. Moving to Oklahoma from Virginia, DeShawn said that by being involved in Fashion Week he has found a strong community of people who also value this form of expression.

Activities continue Wednesday evening with an art and fashion party in OKC. Empire Slice House will present a collaboration with artists Jessica Lynn Brown (JLB Atelier), Zachary Cox, and Desmond Mason, design by Virginia Boyles and Zack Green, hair and makeup by L.J. Hill, and music by Christina Fallin and Steven Battles as Pink Pony. The event goes from 6-10 PM and the cost is $5.

Guest Blogger Jamie Reed is on special assignment for KFOR.com covering all of the Oklahoma Fashion Week Events.
